3.7.1 -
Graphs of Quadratic Functions

So, after all you have learned about quadratic
expressions, functions, and equations, what does it all mean?
You know how to factor a quadratic trinomial x2 +
bx + c, but do you know what those factors tell you about the graph of the
corresponding quadratic function, F(x) = x2 + bx + c, or about the solutions to
the quadratic equation x2 + bx + c = 0?
You also know how to complete the square, and how
to use the quadratic formula to solve complex quadratic equations. But, do you
know what the solutions — real, imaginary, or complex — tell you about the graph
of the quadratic function?
This lesson will tie up these loose ends and
complete the picture of how the various approaches to quadratic functions fit
together.
